Any changes to the designated Power Player made during the course of any match will only take effect for the next match.
E. Formats of the Games
The BCCI offers the Game in a single format for 2016, the Fantasy Championship.
i. Fantasy Championship
a. The Fantasy Championship Game format runs for the duration of the IPL, with points attributed to each player drafted in the virtual squad on the basis of their performance in each match of the IPL (each match being considered a round). For participation in the Fantasy Championship Game format, each user account shall be permitted to draft one squad alone. However, it is clarified that there is no restriction on the number of user accounts that a single user may create on the Web Portal for participation in the Fantasy Championship Game format.
b. At the end of all of the matches of the IPL, the winner will be determined on the basis of the accumulated points of each participating virtual squad, with the winning virtual squad being the virtual squad that accumulates the most number of points relative to the other participating users’ virtual squads. In case of a tie, the winning user shall be declared by comparison of the cumulative points earned for runs scored in each of the tied squads as designated in relation to each match of the IPL, with the squad having the highest run points total being declared the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie in the runs scored points in the above scenario, the winning virtual squad will be the squad with the most creative virtual squad name, as adjudged by the BCCI or any person(s) designated by the BCCI, at the sole discretion of the BCCI.
c. The Fantasy Championship format of the Game will be offered by the BCCI in the following Leagues, which each participating users’ virtual squad will be automatically placed into:
I. Championship League – which shall comprise of the virtual squads of all participating users (of the Fantasy Championship Game format).
II. City Leagues – which shall comprise of the virtual squads of all participating users (of the Fantasy Championship Game format) from a particular city, as per their account information.
III. Overseas League – which shall comprise of the virtual squads of all participating users (of the Fantasy Championship Game format) from non-Indian territories.
IV. Fan Leagues – which shall comprise of the virtual squads of all participating users (of the Fantasy Championship Game format) which list a particular IPL franchisee as a favorite squad, as per their account information.
d. In addition, users may elect to participate in invitational User Moderated Leagues, as set out herein below.
e. Restrictions on substitutions:
In this format of the Game, users may substitute players within their virtual squads, within the constraints set out above, as follows:
I. Before the start of match 1 of the IPL in any year, users can make unlimited substitutions and changes to their virtual squads.
II. Between the start of match 1 and the start of match 56 of the IPL, users are allowed to make up to 80 substitutions in aggregate.
III. Between the start of match 56 and the start of the ‘Eliminator’, users can again make unlimited substitutions and changes.
IV. Between the start of the ‘Eliminator’ and the start of the ‘Final’, users can make up to 8 substitutions.
V. It is clarified that while a user is permitted to make substitutions and replacements during the course of any match of the IPL, all such substitutions and replacements shall only take effect for the next match. Only substitutions or replacements that take place before the first ball of a match has been bowled will take effect for such match.
f. User Moderated Leagues:
I. The User Moderated League Game format is available to participating users of the Fantasy Championship Game and this format shall run for the duration of the IPL.
II. In this format, any user can create an invitational league; pursuant to which such user will be designated the ‘Chairperson’ of the invitational league so created and the invitational league shall be allotted a league code which may be obtained from the Chairperson. Other users may participate in such invitational league by entering the league code.
The Chairperson shall be entitled to remove any user from the invitational league created by that Chairperson without assigning any reason.
IV. All rules and stipulations as to squad selection, duration and substitution, as applicable to the Fantasy Championship Game format shall be applicable to each invitational league created in this format. The user, acting through such user’s account, shall not be entitled or permitted to draft a new virtual squad for participation in any ‘leagues’ under this format of the Game, and shall use the same virtual squad as drafted and attached to such user’s account for participation in the Fantasy Championship Game.
V. It is clarified that no user shall be entitled to claim or demand any fee or charge for participation in any league created by such user or where such user participates, and no person shall be entitled to any prize or payment for participating in and/or being declared the winner of any such league.
VI. At the end of all the matches of the IPL, the top three User Moderated Leagues (‘Top Leagues’) may be awarded prizes, at the BCCI’s sole and absolute discretion. The Top Leagues shall be determined by taking into account the average total points score of all teams in the league, and the three User Moderated Leagues having the highest aggregate scores (as calculated in this manner) will be declared the Top Leagues in the order of their aggregate scores. Only leagues containing five or more teams will be eligible to appear in the Top Leagues leaderboard. If there is a tie among the Top Leagues, the User Moderated League which includes the top-scoring team in the overall leaderboard shall be declared the winner of the tie, and shall thereby either qualify as a Top League, or take the higher position in the ranking of Top Leagues relative to the other tied League(s). In the unlikely event of a tie between two top-scoring teams in the above scenario, the winning User Moderated League will be the league with the most creative name, as adjudged by the BCCI or any person(s) designated by the BCCI, at the sole discretion of the BCCI.
